Heating & Furnace Services in Star, Idaho

Furnace Repair and Heating Service Built for Star Winters

Say a single-story home on the south side of downtown, near Star Riverwalk Park and the Boise River, built in 2011, the median year for a Star house. On a January morning in the low 20s the thermostat calls for heat, the furnace clicks three times, and nothing lights. It tries again a few minutes later with the same result, and the house drifts down toward 60 while the family eats breakfast in coats. The filter was changed in the fall. The owner is not sure whether this is an igniter, a gas valve or a furnace at the end of its run.

The City of Star sets its winter design temperature at 10 F in its adopted design criteria, the figure a furnace or heat pump is sized against. Actual winters, by the Boise Airport record Star shares, bring about 108 nights at or below freezing, a January normal low near 25 F, and about 16 days a year when the high never rises above 32 F. The city plan calls its winters cold but not severe, with 19.7 inches of snow in an average year, which is why a heat pump sized correctly works here and why backup heat for the coldest nights still matters.

Furnace replacement in Star is mechanical permit work under the 2018 International Mechanical Code, which the city adopted effective January 2021. Permits run through the City of Star permit portal, a contractor applying must hold a current Idaho license, and that contractor books the inspection through the portal on a business day. Elevated holds Idaho HVAC License #770055.

Elevated repairs furnaces first, on all major equipment brands, and tells you plainly when a cracked heat exchanger or a worn-out unit makes replacement the better call. Furnace replacement, heat pump installation, ductwork and thermostats are quoted in writing before any work begins, and a second opinion on a replacement quote is free. We take heating calls 7 days a week, 7am to 5pm.
