Air Conditioning Repair and Replacement in Star, Idaho

Picture a two-story home in the Star Road corridor, across from Hunter's Creek Sports Complex, built in the 2010s. On a July afternoon well above 100 F the air conditioner outside goes quiet while the indoor fan keeps blowing warm air. Upstairs reads ten degrees hotter than the thermostat downstairs, the way it has every summer, but now the whole house is heating up. The owners do not know whether the outdoor unit tripped, a capacitor failed or the system is low on refrigerant, and they want someone who will say which before talking about a new one.

Star shares the Boise Airport climate record, which gives roughly 55 days a year of 90 F or hotter and about nine that reach 100 F, with the July normal high near 93 F. The city plan describes summer days as hot and nights as cool, and counts about 212 frost free days, so the cooling season is long but the overnight relief is real. A system that cannot keep up on the hottest afternoons is often running on a weak capacitor, a dirty coil or a refrigerant leak long before it fails outright.

Most of Star was built in 2000 or later, and a home from the 2010s is now at the age where the original air conditioner needs its first real repairs. Replacing a system is mechanical permit work through the City of Star permit portal under the 2018 International Mechanical Code, where any contractor who applies must hold a current Idaho license, with the inspection booked on a business day.

Elevated repairs air conditioners on all major equipment brands, from capacitors and contactors to refrigerant leaks and compressors, and replaces a system only when the repair no longer makes sense. Two-story homes get an honest look at zoning and ductwork, not just a bigger unit. Written estimate first, free second opinion on replacement quotes, and we are open 7 days a week, 7am to 5pm.
